Let’s do our part for our neurodivergent children and phase compliance out. Compliance-based model strategies can be apart of the past. ❌❌❌
Connection fosters a safe environment resulting in less anxiety and stress building a therapeutic relationship and a sense of trust should be the absolute priority as this will result in better outcomes for them to reach their goals and their full potential
We need to attune to their unique needs and strengths. When children feel connected they are more likely to engage and participate in activities.
This ultimately will increase their learning opportunities
Connections
When children are forced to comply, this leads to a lack of trust and lack of safety, which results in disengagement and potentially harmful behaviours such as masking.
Compliance based strategies do not validate or acknowledge the need or emotions of neurodivergent children.
This does not respect their self advocacy, we can do better.
