What Is and How We Use OT
Occupational Therapy supports our children to engage in meaningful occupations.
For children, their main occupation is play and school.
Every child is unique and develops at their own pace.
They may require support with the following:
Fine Motor
Skills
Refers to the ability to use small muscles within our hands and fingers to perform important tasks such as handwriting, cutting with scissors, utilising cutlery and manipulating buttons and zips on clothes.​​​​
Gross Motor Skills
Involve the use of large muscles from to perform movements such as walking, jumping and climbing and essential for balance and coordination skills.

Emotional Regulation
Ability to identify, recognise and regulate emotions in a safe way.

Self-Advocacy Skills
Involves the ability to communicate one’s needs, rights and preferences.

Sensory Processing
Managing and responding to sensory experiences in a way that supports their daily functioning through implementing tailored strategies & accommodations

Involves performing everyday activities for personal wellbeing and hygiene such as toileting, dressing, eating, bathing and sleeping.

School Readiness
Preparing a child for when they attend school such as fine and gross motor skills, toileting, emotional regulation, social skills and independence in tasks.

Skills
Involves building positive relationships.

This incorporates cognitive processing that support individuals to plan, organise and execute a task and may involve skills such as working memory, attention, problem-solving skills, impulse control and regulation.

Assessments
We conduct thorough Functional Assessments to understand each child’s unique strengths, differences and what they may require support with. Additionally, we may evaluate your child’s sensory needs in detail by conducting a Sensory Assessment.

Our 1:1 Mobile Therapy Services are tailored to work on your child’s goals. Evidence-based approaches and strategies are implemented to support your child to live to their full potential and live a meaningful life.

Parent and Caregiver Coaching
We offer coaching sessions which are designed to empower parents and caregivers to support their child’s day-to-day routine. We provide guidance on strategies and tools that may best support your little one and work collaboratively to build solutions and problem-solve areas where you feel your child may require support with.
